NUTRIENTS FROM NATURE – EAT A RAINBOW
August 10, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Phytonutrients include many natural compounds found in plants, such as anti oxidants, that work in different ways to support immunity, prevent chronic disease, and potentially help live longer. Research suggests that the best way to ensure you’re getting the right variety of phytonutrients is to “eat a rainbow” of deeply colored plant-based foods.
Today, the café team will showcase the salad bar with deep color to indicate the presence of antioxidants, which include nutrients like beta carotene, vitamins C and E and selenium.
In your body these can help to slow oxidative deterioration, prevent disease and help maintain your health. Eating a sufficient amount of deeply colored fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants, like blueberries, tomatoes, broccoli and spinach, can help protect the body from oxidative damage, strengthen your immune system, and lower your risk for infection and cancer.
